Newnan-Coweta Habitat for Humanity will be conducting a 'Family Support Workshop' beginning July 7 through Sept 15 2009, 7pm-8:30pm. Classes are 'OPEN TO THE PUBLIC'. Class curriculum will include:
- July 7 - Intro to Habitat for Humanity
- July 14 - Shopping for a Home
- July 21 - Financial Planning
- July 28 - The Home Mortgage
- Aug 4 - Record Keeping
- Aug 11 - Home Safety
- Aug 18 - Rights of Home Ownership
- Aug 25 - Climbing out of Debt
- Sept 1 - Basic hand Tools
- Sept 15 - Hands on Workshop
Classes 1 thru 8 will be held at Bank of Coweta Annex Building and class 9 and 10 at CEC (Central Education Center)/Construction Department at 160 Martin Luther King Dr.

Family Selection Criteria |

| |
Families are selected to work with NCHFH to build their homes based on the following criteria: |
| |
1) ABILITY TO PAY:
- Total long-term debt/income ratio 35% - 40%.
- Recent verifiable on-time payment history with rent.
- Family must make $900 escrow down payment before closing on home. (10 x $90 payments).
2) WILLINGNESS TO PARTNER:
- Must attend mandatory orientation session which will summarize qualification requirements.
- No judgments, liens, or bankruptcy within the last 12 months.
- Works out 18-month payment plan for outstanding collections with no judgments.
- Performs required sweat equity hours
- Family Support classes - mandatory attendance of educational workshops in home management and home maintenance skills.
3) NEED FOR HOUSING:
- A home visit is conducted to evaluate housing needs and current housing conditions.
4) RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT:

 Residency requirement for applying for a Habitat Home located in Coweta County through the Newnan-Coweta Habitat for Humanity: Applicants must live in Coweta County or city limits of Brooks, Fayetteville, Peachtree City or Tyrone for one year prior to application.
