Habitat for Humanity does not provide hand-outs. We are a way for families who can't afford a conventional loan to get a home... and then work for it.
Newnan-Coweta Habitat for Humanity House Ownership Orientation!
The next Orientation will be held:
- Date: Saturday, November 6, 2010
- Time: 9a.m. to 11a.m. – attendance at the entire session is REQUIRED.
- Late arrivals and early departures will not be eligible to apply.
- Applications for a Habitat home will not be distributed until the end of the session
- Location: Bank of Coweta Annex

YOU MUST call 770/252-9049 Ext: 10 before November 4, 2010 to RSVP to attend the Orientation Session. Due to the very high interest for Habitat homes, attendance at this Orientation session will be limited to the individuals who were signed up to attend as of October 22, 2010. SEATING IS LIMITED TO THE 1ST 90 RSVPS AND ONLY 2 PEOPLE PER HOUSEHOLD.

Newnan-Coweta Habitat for Humanity will be conducting a 'Successful homeownership Classes 2010' beginning July 13 through Sept 21 2010, 7pm-8:30pm. Classes are 'OPEN TO THE PUBLIC'. Class curriculum will include:
- July 13 - Intro to Habitat for Humanity
- July 20 - Shopping for a Home
- July 27 - Financial Planning
- Aug 3 - The Home Mortgage
- Aug 10 - Record Keeping
- Aug 17 - Home Safety
- Aug 24 - Rights of Home Ownership
- Aug 31 - Climbing out of Debt
- Sept 14 - Basic hand Tools
- Sept 21 - Hands on Workshop
NO CLASSES WEEK OF LABOR DAY
Classes 1 thru 8 will be held at Oakland Baptist church, 482 Pine Rd, Newnan GA 30264
Classes 9 and 10 will be held at CEC (Central Education Center/Construction Department), 160 Martin Luther King Dr. Newnan (call 678/423-2000 for directions)

Family Selection Criteria
Families are selected to work with NCHFH to build their homes based on the following criteria:1) ABILITY TO PAY:
- Total long-term debt/income ratio 35% - 40%.
- Recent verifiable on-time payment history with rent.
- Family must make $900 escrow down payment before closing on home. (10 x $90 payments).
2) WILLINGNESS TO PARTNER:
- Must attend mandatory orientation session which will summarize qualification requirements.
- No judgments, liens, or bankruptcy within the last 12 months.
- Works out 18-month payment plan for outstanding collections with no judgments.
- Performs required sweat equity hours
- Family Support classes - mandatory attendance of educational workshops in home management and home maintenance skills.
3) NEED FOR HOUSING:
- A home visit is conducted to evaluate housing needs and current housing conditions.
4) RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT:
Residency requirement for applying for a Habitat Home located in Coweta County through the Newnan-Coweta Habitat for Humanity: Applicants must live in Coweta County or city limits of Brooks, Fayetteville, Peachtree City or Tyrone for one year prior to application.
Newnan-Coweta Habitat for Humanity Salary Requirements are for each person.
