Becoming a Habitat Homeowner

Please take a few minutes to review the steps below to determine if Habitat homeownership is the right fit for you and/or your family. Step 1: Applicant Basic Requirements

Attend an Orientation Session

You have to have been a resident of Coweta County for the last year OR you have to have worked in Coweta County for the last year

Employment eligibility verification (I9) required

Must not have owned a home in the past three years

Must meet HUD income guidelines (see table below)

Possess steady and verifiable source of income for at least two years - (Predictable sources of income include: wages, social security, disability, and child support)

If self-employed, you must be able to provide 2 full years of self-employment tax returns

Willingness and ability to pay monthly debt obligations

Total debt-to-income ratio 43% or less

Be in good standing with creditors - Your credit score and credit history will be evaluated from Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion
Step 2: Do you and/or your family meet the 2022 HUD Income Limits?
