Becoming a Habitat Homeowner

 

Thank you for your interest in learning more about becoming a Newnan-Coweta Habitat homebuyer. Please take a few minutes to review the steps below to determine if Habitat homeownership is the right fit for you and/or your family. At this point in time, NCHFH is no longer accepting applicants for homeownership. Step 1:  Applicant Basic Requirements

  • Attend an Orientation Session

  • You MUST have been a resident of Coweta County for the last year OR you MUST have worked in Coweta County for the last year (working from home or contract work does not qualify) If not, please contact your local Habitat in your county  

  • Employment eligibility verification (I9) required

  • Must not have owned a home in the past three years

  • Must meet HUD income guidelines (see table below)

  • Expect verification of employment for at least the last two years - (Predictable sources of income include: wages, social security, disability, and child support)​

    • If self-employed, you must be able to provide 2 full years of self-employment tax returns​

  • Willingness and ability to pay monthly debt obligations with no more than 43% total debt to gross monthly income

  • Must not have any unpaid collections, medical or otherwise

  • Be in good standing with creditors Your credit score and credit history will be evaluated from Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion​
