Construction Volunteers

Whether you're an experienced builder or have never picked up a hammer, there's a place for you on a Newnan-Coweta Habitat for Humanity build site. Our Construction Volunteers work alongside Habitat staff, skilled crew leaders, and fellow community members to help build safe, affordable homes for local families. No construction experience is required, just a willingness to learn, work as part of a team, and make a meaningful difference.

Every nail driven, wall raised, and project completed brings a family one step closer to the stability and security of homeownership. By volunteering on a build site, you're not just building a house, you’re helping build hope, stronger neighborhoods, and a brighter future for our community.

What to Expect as a Construction Volunteer

Construction volunteer opportunities are available throughout the year as homes progress through each phase of construction. Volunteer shifts typically begin in the morning and conclude in the early afternoon, with a safety orientation provided before work begins. Our experienced staff and volunteer crew leaders will guide you every step of the way, making this a rewarding experience for both first-time and returning volunteers.

Depending on the stage of construction, volunteer tasks may include:

  • Wall framing and raising

  • Installing siding and exterior trim

  • Painting and staining

  • Landscaping and site cleanup

  • Installing flooring and cabinetry

  • Interior trim and finishing work

  • Organizing tools and materials

  • General construction support and cleanup

For everyone's safety, volunteers should wear comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor work, long pants, and closed-toe shoes. Habitat provides the necessary safety equipment and tools, along with instruction for each task. Volunteers should also bring a reusable water bottle and be prepared to work as part of a team while helping create safe, affordable housing for families in Coweta County.

Every volunteer makes a lasting impact. Whether you join us for a single day or return throughout the year, your time, talents, and dedication help build homes, strengthen neighborhoods, and create opportunities for local families to thrive.
